All-Clear Given After Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuations At Tufts University (Update)

The bomb threat at Tufts University that led to evacuations was determined to be false, said authorities.

The threat affected the university's main campus, Tufts University police tweeted around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Students in Ballou Hall, Miller Hall, or the university's Campus Center were advised to take all belongings and evacuate immediately, and the public was instructed to avoid the area.

Police investigated the allegedly dangerous sites and found no threats, according to a tweet made around 5:00 p.m. the same day. The tweet encouraged people to resume normal activity.

The threat was reportedly emailed to the university's diversity department less than an hour before university police tweeted its warning, according to reporter and student Clara McCourt on Twitter.

The manifesto-like email was from a self-described "multiracial group" who asserted that the university continues to "fuel anti-white racism."

"We placed several bombs in Tufts university," the email read. "We don't want anyone to die, we are just here to send a message. Evacuate now."

Tufts University police are continuing to investigate the situation.
